From the age of 12, I was drawn, like a moth to a flame, to the current of Led Zeppelin. Except that, the flame was my own dragon energy (although I didn’t know it at the time). Enchanted by the cellular memories triggered by the music, my body led me on a 36 year journey through the Left and Right hand paths of occult mysticism.
Each step was led by the muse of the music toward an initiation and release of kundalini energy. The inward path, filled with dragons and fairies, a labyrinth of mirrors and memories, was navigated by the golden dust of goosebumps sprinkled by the wand of Zeppelin’s ancient Druidic craft. Poetic? Yes, because in these inner realms poetry and music are the keys to unlocking perception. This was a journey of pure wonderment and unpredictable chaos leading to a full Kundalini awakening through the song “Stairway to Heaven.” For five weeks, I lived the lyrics in a mystical journey documented in “unSpiritual: A Spiritual Journey“.
Below is my personal revelation of the song. I believe it is a song crafted (consciously or unconsciously) to open the “human mystical realm” through the activation of kundalini in the spine (stairway). It is a song that can only be unlocked by a true innocent heart, the curious inner child, the true follower of Pan. It is also a song (spell) that will give the uninitiated what they are looking for . . . for indeed, the magnetism of this mirror is strong, and the dragon is not what some may think (intentionally cryptic).
There really is a mystical realm, this isn’t a metaphor. The signpost reads “sincerity, honesty and humility”.
There are still things in this world that Google will not lead you into. Its not about access to content, its about subjective contact, feeling, perception—direct experience with your inner web of self and its connection to nature. The keys cannot be bought, the stairway cannot be purchased, the path can only be experienced with true humility and unpretentious wonderment.
The way up is down. The way out is in. The way around is through. In through the out door—for things are not always as they seem. The inner child will come when the heart is right and the dragon’s favor can only be won through patience and trust. Discover the magick word, and the great question of the Aeon, in a journey through the lyrics of Stairway to Heaven.
Stairway to Heaven and Kundalini
There’s a lady who’s sure
All that glitters is gold
And she’s buying a stairway to heaven.
The lady represents the felt-sense (soul) of the person who has entered the inward path. This is the beginning stage where the seeker believes enlightenment is easily obtained through one’s charisma, charm, study , knowledge and effort. This is the place of glamour and white light where the dream state is indistinguishable from reality.
When she gets there she knows
If the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
The seeker discovers the path is not what it seemed. They have walked for a short time toward a cherished destination with high expectations (preconceived ideas) and found the stores were all closed (people, places and things that do not offer up the expected admiration and approval . . . disappointment is experienced). This comes as a shock because they expected a celebration reflecting their new commitment to the journey of their special calling. This is a humbling experience and opens a doorway to the next place with one word . . . Trust.
Ooh ooh and she’s buying a stairway to heaven.
Wonderment is born as she ponders her path thus far (‘she’ represents the felt-sense, inner child, soul)
There’s a sign on the wall
But she wants to be sure
‘Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
No longer does her old way of thinking serve her. She can’t rely on the teachings of others through books and workshops. She must go direct to trusting her felt-sense. She comes to a major fork in the road and has to make the call all by herself. There is no mother, father, teacher or guide to make this decision. Tarot decks are even confusing at this juncture. This feels like a blind decision but it is an important initiation of trust.
In a tree by the brook
There’s a songbird who sings,
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.
After passing the tests of self-delusion and self-trust, she finds a beautiful place to rest. This is when she recognizes the ‘true’ sound of her inner guidance. The songbird is the felt-bodily-tuning of “right” she has come to know. There is no doubt in this moment. The glistening sun on the water, the wind lightly blowing and the enchanting song of the bird showers her with confirmation. This is her true reward, not the approval of others. She then realizes the bio-spiritual tree of life. She sees that the songbird and her inner child have a ‘true’ connection leading down to the roots of her tree. This is THAT which gives her goosebumps. She is remembering the enchanted and sometimes terrifying land of giants (childhood and parents).
This inner joy also triggers its opposite. She questions herself, the song, the inner sight, the synchronicity. Is she worthy? The “word” has opened up the realm of magick but is she really deserving of the songbird’s melody? She feels a deep sense of guilt and sadness at the thought of it all being taken away. All her thoughts are misgiven.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.
She feels the flow of wonder showering away the doubts. She is liberated from her doubts by her native curiosity . . . she is free with or without her doubts. She is ‘taken” by the winds of wonder.
There’s a feeling I get
When I look to the west,
She has a strong sense of her inner muse. This has become a ‘familiar feeling’ —a felt-sense is in the air. She knows feeling and desire are the currents of her life. But there is something else.
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
She feels her inner child crying for a full release from its inner cave. The echos from the past ache in her heart for “somewhere else.” The birth pains of the path are strong. She’s feeling the pressure of her wings in her shoulder blades. She’s beginning to ‘bear’ the pain of her re-birth. This is when the dragon appears and becomes her guardian. She has won the loyalty of her Dragon through her courage and trust. The Dragon is now her protector. This shadow presence was always there . . . waiting.
In my thoughts I have seen
Rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who standing looking.
She is struck with a vision. She sees the witnesses at the end of her path who “know” what she has been through. They are the keepers of the keys to her inner wisdom, standing in the forest of the awakened dragon. There is smoke in the air from the fire of the dragon’s breath—a great flame has been ignited and the old has been incinerated. Even those who do not live in this forest, some her enemies, can see the rings of smoke rising from the canopy of trees.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.
She is filled with the feeling of childlike innocence and electricity crackling in and around her. She is intoxicated with wonder and profound curiosity. She has become possessed by her heart in the feeling of her eyes.
And it’s whispered that soon, If we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
She recognizes the whisper of “true” in the thunder and silence, the shadow and glow. She knows how to ‘call the tune’ and follow the Piper toward Reason.
She is struck with another vision. She sees those who have stood firm on their path of true-self. Who realized their “tuning” within, the song of their heart. She hears the sound of laughter echoing through the trees of her inner world. She has been crowned a Braveheart. She has remained true through the long night. The inner beings are celebrating for they have waited long and hard for this day to come. Those who passed through the portals of tension to the other side are initiates of the magick word—TRUST.
Does anybody remember laughter? (live version)
Remembering the laughter of childhood innocence. Returning. Full circle.
If there’s a bustle in your hedgerow,
Don’t be alarmed now,
It’s just a spring clean for the May queen.
The chaos of thoughts that shake the boundaries of reality are happening for a reason—”only things that can be shaken will shake.” The May Queen is coming for she is the great question—for the Aeon of the Child.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by
But in the long run
There’s still time to change the road you’re on.
She can always STOP and take a different road if THIS ONE becomes too blurry. She is free and under no obligation to continue. The Left-Hand Path and the Right-Hand Path reveals the “pathless-path.” She realizes that the magick word is a living verb beyond all signs and paths. She IS the path. The IMAGE has been transcended.
And it makes me wonder.
And the feeling of wonder grows and glows. Wonderment ABOUT wonderment feels like spirals of emotional energy.
Your head is humming and it won’t go
In case you don’t know,
The piper’s calling you to join him,
She realizes that her thoughts, in their present form, cannot go where the Piper is leading. They will be stirred into a witches brew within (clockwise and counter-clockwise) as she trusts the process of her felt-sense. THIS requires a deeper commitment to the the Piper (inner child). A sense of “the point of no return” has occurred. The void, the black hole of non-existence, the dream world revealed.
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow,
And did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind.
She trust herself now more than ever, wherever she goes. Her felt-sense IS the stairway and her breath the whispering wind. She lifts her nose to the wind and breathes in her native essence—nature is revealed.
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.
The dragon watches over her as she merges with the shadow. Duality has ceased. There is only breath, life and the infinite magick of her bio-imaginaiton. Sorcerer and sorceress, witch and warlock, have become human.
There walks a lady we all know
The felt-sense . . . feeling, desire, the sparkles of goosebumps in every human being.
Who shines white light and wants to show
How ev’rything still turns to gold.
The true reality, beyond the white light shining in the eyes of humanity, (the dream-state of self and the spiritual story) is the natural world, the human inner realm, birth, life and death. When all is said and done, when the mist of our dreams and nightmares dissipate, what is left was always there.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
For those who truly listen to their felt-sense. Who do not abandon themselves. Who remain internally true and honest. Who have decided to quite lying and LIVE from the inside out. The tune will come to them at last in a form they can understand.
When all are one and one is all
When all the parts within are ONE. The inner tribe has been united. Bliss runs like a river. It is a Celebration Day.
To be a rock and not to roll.
No more tossed around by internal struggle. She is stable, breathing steady, and secure in knowing who she is, right here and now. The mountain of god is within. The Buddha sitting under the tree. No longer wandering and looking for teachers, projected parents, answers. The seeker has learned to trust her felt-sense. The search is over, the self transcended. The inner child has merged with the adult. The spirals of magickal power are at her disposal—Ipsissimus.
And she’s buying a stairway to heaven.
The song returns to the beginning. There’s always another person to teach what’s been learned.
The Great Question is passed forward . . . May I ?
Childhood Trauma, Spiritual Delusion, the Search for Enlightenment & the Awakening of Kundalini.
The story begins with Christopher staring at a shot gun, considering ending his life, at the age of 18. He has a born again experience and becomes a missionary in Haiti. He later escapes a Christian cult and travels through the landscape of spirituality, from Scientology to the New Age, through both the left and right hand esoteric paths, for 25 years. Following continued energy releases in his body, his guidance leads him into the underworld where he experiences a shamanic journey into the past. culminating in a full Kundalini release. He describes how the song from Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” triggered the release of the Kundalini energy at the base of his spine. He chronicles the details of this human metamorphosis over a 5 week period, revealing how the body purges itself of the old psych-emotional construct and unleashes its spiralling power inside. Magick, healing and humor weave a tale of the life of a modern spiritual seeker through riveting intensity and synchronicity, sprinkled with Keys of Insight. It is a harrowing narrative for any story lover, spiritual seeker, researcher, or survivor of childhood trauma coping with PTSD (post-traumatic-stress-disorder).
